Ethique: Our Story and Mission

Brianne West, the CEO and Founder, started Ethique in her kitchen back in 2012 when she began experimenting with solid shampoo bars. Today, Ethique boasts a product range of over 100 items.

At Ethique, we create conscious and concentrated haircare, skincare, body care, and more products to help make giving up plastic bottles easier. All our products are 100% plastic-free, certified vegan, cruelty-free, and palm-oil free. Additionally, our packaging is 100% plastic-free.

Our mission is to revolutionize the cosmetics industry and regenerate our planet through sustainable business practices. Helping to rid the world of single-use plastic bottles is just one part of this endeavor. As of 2021, we have saved over 20 million single-use plastic bottles from being made or disposed of in landfills around the world, over 3 million gallons of water from being wasted, and have planted more than 350,000 trees. This is only the beginning of our regenerative journey.

Compact by Design: Prioritizing Sustainability

At Ethique, we have created the Compact by Design initiative to identify products that, while they may not always look very different, have a more efficient design. By removing excess air and water, our products require less packaging and become more efficient to ship. At scale, these small differences in product size and weight lead to significant carbon emission reductions.

Some of the ways our products can qualify for Compact by Design include:

Volumizing Shampoo Bar: Our Sweet & Spicy Volumizing Shampoo Bar brings life, volume, and bounce to fine or flat hair, with a great lather. Fairly traded cocoa butter and Samoan coconut oil nourish and soften without weighing strands down, while a pinch of sea salt gives new life to hair.

Save Money & the Planet: Each shampoo bar lasts at least 80 washes, equivalent to three bottles of liquid shampoo. To use, simply stroke the bar down wet hair, and it will lather up.

Plastic Free: This bar has recyclable, home-compostable packaging. Simply tear up the box and pop it in your compost bin or bury it in your garden to return nutrients to the soil.

Ethical & Sustainable Ingredients: Our products are formulated using vegan, cruelty-free, palm oil-free, paraben-free, and renewable ingredients, sourced from sustainable producers paid a fair wage.
